Tim Herrera is from Cochiti Pueblo, he has been creating Native American works of wearable art for 13 years. Tim learned his trade from Charllene Reano and his dad, but also through his own experiences with silver and gems. Tim has a very unique contemporary style, he mainly uses tufa casts to create most of his art. Tufa casting is one of the oldest forms of Native American jewelry. Tufa stone is a porous type of limestone. The tufa stone is carved into the desired shape and designs with a sharp tool, then the artist melts silver and pours it into the cast. Tim uses only the best stones in his work, especially when it comes to turquoise. Tim’s artistic skills are amazing, and it shows in every piece he creates.

Handmade by Cochiti Pueblo artist Tim Herrera.

This is a sterling silver tufa cast ring, featuring a natural Kingman Turquoise stone. The Turquoise stone is a rich blue color with pale blue hues, and a beautiful water web matrix, the stone sits in a hand cut custom bezel.

The silver work in done in an amazing contemporary style, this is what Tim is known for. Tim hand carved the  design for this band onto a tufa stone and poured molten silver into the cast to yield this amazing work of wearable art. Tim completed this piece with a high shine.
