im Herrera is from Cochiti Pueblo, he has been creating Native American works of wearable art for 13 years. Tim learned his trade from Charllene Reano and his dad, but also through his own experiences with silver and gems. Tim has a very unique contemporary style, he mainly uses tufa casts to create most of his art. Tufa casting is one of the oldest forms of Native American jewelry. Tufa stone is a porous type of limestone. The tufa stone is carved into the desired shape and designs with a sharp tool, then the artist melts silver and pours it into the cast. Tim uses only the best stones in his work, especially when it comes to turquoise. Tim’s artistic skills are amazing, and it shows in every piece he creates.

Handmade by Tim Herrera from Cochiti Pueblo.

This is a three strand rare natural Mediterranean Coral necklace and pendant set, Tim hand strung the coral beads for each strand and topped them with sterling silver cone. The coral for the strands is a beautiful red color. The sterling silver tufa pendant features two amazing deep red coral gems.  The coral sit in a hand cut bezel.

The silver work on this piece is AMAZING! This pendant was made completely by hand. Tim carved the amazing design onto a tufa stone and poured molten silver into the cast to yield this amazing work of wearable art.

The length of the necklace is 21-1/2 inches from end to end, and the pendant measures 3-3/4 inches by 2 inches at widest. The coral on the pendant measure 9/16 inch by 1/4 inch and 9mm, the coral beads for the strands measure 7mm by 4mm. This necklace has a handmade hook and eye style clasp, and the pendant is removable.
